Anne Frank Haus

I have visited Anne Frank Haus, before two days, on this trip to Amsterdam. Her diary had been a driving force for the visit to the house, but it was a totally different experience. Although her diary had given an account of atrocities and difficulties faced by them during those times, but standing in those rooms, where they hid themselves for such a long time, made me feel sad and perplexed. I can not imagine how difficult their lives would have been. I have read about it, but still difficult to imagine, existence of life in those cruel concentration camps. But somehow we all know, and don’t need to imagine, that such situations can occur in our world, if we do not stop discriminations based upon nationalities, skin colour, religion, caste, sexual orientation, gender identity etc.. Humanity has often showed its non existence in some humans, whenever such discriminations have raised their heads in our hearts.
Another visit was, today, to an exhibition “We Have a Dream. Gandhi, King, Mandela ”, also in Amsterdam. It explained their extraordinary journeys against discriminations and social injustice. A hope, that how one person’s ideals and ideas can change the world and make it a better place for future generations to live with more freedom than ever before.
We have to raise our voice against injustice. We have to fight with nonviolent protests, when it is required. We have to find and show a ray of light to others when the darkness is all that can be seen.
Although it’s hard in those times, but it’s even more important to be a human, when the others around us forget to be one.
