What is Kenntnisprüfung?
Gleichwertigkeitsprüfung = Kenntnisprüfung = Medical Knowledge Test
After your application for Approbation… (For non-EU people) All documents are verified by Gutachter… He/she will check your documents and compare your studies with German medical study requirements… If your study is compatible, there is no need to appear for this exam, and you will receive Approbation…. If it’s not compatible, it will be required to clear this exam, only after that Approbation can be received… (Almost all medical graduates from India, requires to give this exam…)
Kenntnisprüfung is medical examination viva in German…
Internal medicine, surgery, pharmacology, radiology and any other medical questions asked…
That needs to be cleared within 18 months of application of Berufserlaubnis/Approbation… (If started working, before the Berufserlaubis expires)
One can appear maximum 3 times for this exam…
Required German knowledge and fees according to different states can be found on this link (click here).

It is a non EU degree, you may have to give exam like me. You will get Berufserlaubnis and then they will decide if you will have to clear exam or not for Approbation.
What if I want to become a pathologist? Should I study pharmacology usw too? In what dates can I take this exam: all along the year or at specific periods? And how do students prepare themselvs for this exam?
I have no information about this. Please ask some authority. Contacts available on my website.
Hello Dr. Thejas sir,
Leaving one more question. Sir I have heard that if someone works on a Berufserlaubnis in Bayern, the period he/she works shall not be considered for Weiterbildung in Bayern and also anywhere else. Is it true sir? And also all the Aerztekrammer are asking for a certificate showing no. of stunden in each Fach in Medicine. How does it look like ? If possible can you please post some pic of it sir?
Thanking you in advance,
The help that you are doing through this website and Videos is commendable. If possible I want to meet you sir in Germany when I reach there and say Thanks to you.
— It is true. Only after Approbation, Weiterbildung starts.
— It is given mostly with a transcript. Most of the colleges and universities have their own format for that. They give a letter, on which all hours and terms spent in Medical School are mentioned. More like an Internship Certificate, but it is for clinical terms that you have attended during your medical years along with total hours spent in all subjects.
But many offices, now ask for curriculum too. One does not require to translate curriculum. https://www.tnmgrmu.ac.in/images/Syllabus-and-curriculam/syllabus-and-regulations-medical/MCI-REGULATIONS-17032015.pdf
—Sure, just mail me when you are in Germany.
how tough is the exam sir?
How can one scale it? each person has their own ideas about it.I have not given it yet.
i want to ask about preparation courses.. Should we do preparation course or can we prepare without it as well?
I have not started yet. But many people have done it themselves too.

Common books read for this exams are:-
Miamed amboss from Internet
I have not prepared myself for this exam yet.
I study from Philipines but i am Indian citizen .
should i have to give Kenntnisprüfung?
The authorities decide after Gutachten (detailed review of your documents).
Is this gonna be too difficult? Do we get some kinda coaching for this in any institutes so that we can rest assured to pass this and start pg?
Sir, it seems like you have done MBBS in India. I wanted to ask that how difficult is it to transform your whole medical learning from english to german. I mean I saw some medical terms…and even the bones have different names in german. So is it possible for a student who has done MBBS in india (in english language) to become so fluent in medical german that he can understand the complex pathology of diaeases.
yes it is possible. It takes few years but it is possible.
Even after 4 years, sometimes I encounter some words that I need to pronounce it loud, just to understand und learn the pronouncement.
But I can understand all medical words and what is written there. I think it took less than a year of working in hospital, to understand all medical terms.
How many times I can attend the Kenntnisprüfung?
3 attempts are allowed.
