Movie Review: “Kya Dilli Kya Lahore”

Movie:- Kya Dilli Kya Lahore
Director:- Vijay Raaz

“Lakeerein hain, to rehne do
Kisi ne rooth kar gusse mein shaayad khainch di thi..
inhi ko ab banao paala,
aur aao, kabbadi khelte hain
Lakeeren hain, to rehne do..”
– Gulzar

Poetry of Gulzar gifted movie a beautiful start.

kya dilli kya lahore

A Pakistani soldier, who had lived in Delhi before partition, attacks on an Indian military post with only one soldier. The Indian soldier lived in Lahore before partition. Some beautiful moments funny, sad and silent made movie alive and watchable.

Although acting, dialogue and direction are good; but of course they were not enough to engage audience with only two central characters in movie without proper meaningful story.

I loved the fact that someone made a film with honest effort on this stupidity of partition. It successfully touches human souls and tries to remove that unknown feeling of hatred between people of two nations. Central idea of this movie is pensive; but lack of depth in its execution made me feel that the movie lost its purpose somewhere after intermission.
